Our Wedding
October 11, 2020. The day we became husband & wife…
There will never be words to adequately explain how perfect this day and whole weekend was for us. Everyone says it, but it felt like a dream and passed so so quickly. Our wedding came at a time where so many people most needed it and was a weekend of hope and joy. If you can remember back to fall of 2020, there was this little lull in c0v!d for about a month prior to the holiday season and it just so happened that restaurants, venues, etc. in Denver opened to a larger capacity (We had 88 guests) the week of our wedding (and then closed back down two weeks after, haha!) We hit the timing just right and looking back, it was such a blessing. I don’t wish planning a c0v!d wedding on anyone, that’s for sure. Another huge blessing to the weekend was having 5 of 6 of my bridesmaids there. Due to the lockdown, Olivia (my maid of honor) and Monica (my little sister) had to request special permission (due to being active duty) to even travel and attend. On Thursday October 8th, Monica found out she got the “go ahead” to come and a I remember her FaceTiming me and us both crying hysterically with relief and happiness. I can’t believe everything came together in such a perfect way and only have God to thank. Here are some of my favorite photos and then will go into more details below:

When we started wedding planning in 2019 after Drew’s proposal, we weren’t sure where to have it. I grew up in Vermont but all my family had since moved to Florida. Drew grew up outside of Chicago but we didn’t feel drawn to get married there. And we didn’t want to get married at West Point where we met and graduated from because it felt too cliché. We knew we loved Colorado and wanted it to be easy for our guests. Our motto was “the wedding is about the guests, the marriage is about us” which sounds sad, but to this day I think stands true. We thought about having a wedding in the mountains but the logistics would have been too complicated and expensive for our guests. We decided Denver was the best choice since it was an hour from us in Colorado Springs, had a major airport making it easy to get to, and still gave people the option of having fun things to do close by in the Rockies if they so chose. We also looked into getting married in the Catholic Church but at the time due to C0v!d, they didn’t allow more than 10 guests to attend. Our plan is to do a vow renewal/small wedding in the Church sometime in the future when we are spiritually ready for it. I’m imagining an intimate ceremony in a small chapel somewhere in Europe and can’t wait!
Since people were traveling into Colorado, we extended the festivities to the whole weekend to be able to spend more time with everyone. It really took the pressure off of us to be social with everyone on the wedding day.

To Drew, the love of my life and my husband, I LOVE YOU. You are the best life partner and friend ever. Even though I called you “groomzilla,” I secretly loved how involved you were with everything in the wedding planning process. You’re simply the best and I’m so lucky I get to do life with you.
